Release Notes 2.29 (March 25th, 2022)

Viakoo Release Notes 2.29

Viakoo Release 2.29 addresses a major issue associated with tickets associated with devices switching between online and offline (a.k.a., “Flapping” tickets) not working properly. Moreover, 2.29 enables additional useful fields for Access Control device tables and reports. The release also fixes multiple issues which are listed below:

Flapping Device Tickets

In certain situations, due to network loads, system loads, hardware failures, et cetera, devices may repeatedly go offline and then online. Rather than opening and closing device offline tickets in rapid succession, a single “flapping” device ticket will be opened on the device or video stream. That single ticket will remain open until the device demonstrates that it has stabilized for at least three (3) days before auto-closing. In this way, users can be alerted to problem devices in a way that clearly identifies the situation.

Due to a problem introduced in an earlier release, these “flapping” tickets were closing immediately, making the situation no better than just having repeated
“device offline” tickets. In Release 2.29, this problem has been resolved which makes these kinds of tickets behave as intended and will immediately reduce the number of tickets associated with these kinds of problem devices. (tracking issue VWA-1634)

Additional Access Controller Fields

In Release 2.29, depending on the support for your Access Control software, Access Controller tables and reports now display the following useful fields:

  • Controller Firmware Version
  • Whether this controller is currently enabled or disabled
  • The Time Zone of the associated controller
  • Whether the device is using encryption in its communication to Access Control server

These additional fields help users understand whether devices are correctly configured.

On release of 2.29, this support is only available for LenelS2 OnGuard and requires version 2022-2 (5985 or higher) of the Viakoo Agents.

Issues Resolved

  • The issue of a ticket not being generated for an offline camera when the system is rebooted at the same time has been resolved (VCS-3857)
  • The issue of incorrect uptime displayed in the Server Details page has been resolved (VCS-3362, VCS-3466, VCS-3745, VCS-3871)
