This type of ticket is generated when a stream's retention goal is more than the actual goal being measured. For example, if your desired retention goal is 30 days, and the actual retention Viakoo is measuring is 29 days, then you will only be achieving 96% of your retention, and you will get a ticket.
This is how it will look in the performance charts:
Notice the value in the Actual Retention column is lower than the value in the Retention Goal. In this case, the retention compliance is off by 42÷90 = 46.6%
This is how it will look on the Retention tab:
And this is how it will look in the Performance tab:
Notice the y-axis is label with days of retention and the graph skips around from being in compliance to out of compliance in the past month.
How to fix:
- Make sure that you are not storing live video and then archiving it somewhere else. Only certain VMSes support this type of configuration. Check this article here if this is the case.
- You may have just run out of space. If you go to the Server level, then look at the Overview tab, you should be able to see how much space you have left in the Storage window.
- Some video files dating within the designated retention period were removed. this is also a security feature that will let you know video was moved or deleted accidentally or maliciously.
- Lastly, it may be a new camera. Sometimes we see this scenario when cameras are just being brought online and they haven't had time to achieve their retention yet.
